Yiddish at USyd
This blog has been created with the students and alumni of the Yiddish course at the University of Sydney in mind. It will feature news about Yiddish in general, in Australia, and in Sydney. Important information regarding Yiddish at Sydney Uni (pre-registration, summer/winter courses, schedules, etc.) will also be posted. Provdided I'm not hit with a procrastination attack, that is.

Look! Kitty Pryde made Der forverts
Subtitle: wherein Yasminke shows her geekiness.
For those of you who don't know, Kitty Pryde was the first openly Jewish superheroine in the comic book world. She made a brief appearance in the first X-Men movie (she's the young student who walked through the wall) and plays a rather large part in X-Men III. Although, she isn't wearing a Mogen Dovid as she often does in the comic (prominent in the first issues of Uncanny X-Men starting with issue 129).
Here's the English Forward's article on Kitty. You may need a subscription to read it, but it's free to subscribe.
And yes, Yasminke is that much of a fangirl. She even owns (or rather, her son does) the Dark Phoenix Saga and some of the latest Ultimate X-Men when the budget allows. She even has an article about Jewish comic book superheroines coming out later this year.
And you thought everything was about computers or 18th century street literature.

Amazing Broadcasts
A relatively recent re-discovery of the BBC broadcast of the liberation of Bergen-Belsen on April 15, 1945.
Bergen-Belsen
Don't just read the transcripts, listen to the broadcasts. You will need RealPlayer from Real Audio (free download). Very moving.
Also on this site (specially for those in the New York history unit): Morris Adler and Zypora Spaisman about the
